Construction of a protected environment for the production of olive groves in Lar Santa Isabel, Alta Floresta, State of Mato Grosso, Brazil

Abstract

The activities of university extension are indispensable for the professional formation, for it represents an opportunity to put in practice what you learn inside the classrooms. The aim of this work is to build a protected environment for the production of olerícolas in Lar Santa Isabel, a philanthropic entity, located in the city of Alta Floresta, State of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, in response to the community demand to protect nature's greenery from the elements. This action was carried out by the academics of the Communication and Rural Extension course of the Agronomy, State University of Mato Grosso (UNEMAT) in 2015/2 and 2016/1. This work is an experience report that adopted the interventionist methodology in which actions have the perspective of contributing with the entity to produce vegetables during the whole year, regardless of the meteorological conditions. The activity was of great relevance, since it contributed to the philanthropic entity to achieve complete autonomy in the production mainly of hardwoods, emphasizing on the lettuce, as well as it was important for the learning of the academics, considering that the university extension allows the scholars to apply theoretical knowledge into the practice itself.
