The construction of brazilian citizenship as fundamental rights

Abstract

This work is the result of the completion of the specialization course ‘Education in Human Rights and Diversities: educating oneself and others for the construction of a society grounded in human rights’, offered by the Federal University of Uberlândia. The aim of the study is to understand the process of consolidating brazilian citizenship as an expression of human rights, through the lens of authors who shed light on this theme, encouraging reflections and praxis necessary for the country’s development. To this end, the methodology adopted was based on bibliographic reading and reflection on the works of authors such as Murilo de Carvalho, Lilia Schwarcz, Paulo Freire, among others, whose contributions help frame this process as a social and historical phenomenon, providing both theoretical and practical foundations for the sociological analysis of the subject. Accordingly, as a concluding result, this study draws upon the authors to reflect on how the processes of citizenship, diversity, and humanism can contribute to making Brazil a more developed and less unequal country.
