This text aims to analyze the contributions of feminist studies in the geography of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, over twelve years (2007-2019), in an attempt to understand the insertion of the debate on gender, more specifically related to femininities, which are studies on women, in geographic scientific production. 853 articles published in online journals linked to the Graduate Programs in Geography in Rio de Janeiro were considered. Of these, only 15 articles had discussed gender and sexuality, however, only 3 had their discussions centered on women. In order to make it possible to understand the constructions of feminist approaches in the periodicals of Rio de Janeiro, a content analysis was carried out in the search of the epistemologies, theories, concepts and methods adopted. It appears that the geographic work gathered around the issues of femininity needs to be more disclosed, because at the moment there is a secondary nature in geography.
