Fortaleza city has a chronic floods and inudation problems during the rainy season, not unlike the large Brazilian urban centers. Thus, the research aimed to identify the main flooding points in the Riacho Pajeú microbasin, in Fortaleza -CE, using information available in the newspaper O Povo newspaper library, between the years 2001 and 2019. The information extracted from the newspapers was organized in a database, making it possible to identify the number of flood events in the city. Then, there were statistical technical standards under the annual reference values of the historical series. The occurrences were spatialized in a GIS environment using the Kernel technique, which made it possible to divide the basin into sectors. Between 2001 and 2019, 152 flooding events were cataloged, with a concentration on the east-west axis of Avenida Heráclito Graça, in the Centro and Aldeota neighborhoods.
