Environmental degradation is most often associated with human actions that socially and environmentally affect life in different ecosystems. The interaction between social actors and the natural space promotes broad, dynamic and complex socio-environmental transformations, which have been addressed in several scientific publications. The objectives of this study were: 1) to identify and analyze the Brazilian scientific production on the themes transformations and socio-environmental impacts on lakes; 2) point out the main socio-environmental impacts identified in these ecosystems and 3) discuss whether the approach to impacts was somehow related to the quality of life of people and the environment. For this, a scientometric research was carried out, in which scientific articles were searched in the SciELO and Web of Science databases using the following combinations of words in English and Portuguese (SciELO): “social and environmental impacts/impactos social e ambient”, “social and environmental transformations” and “quality of life”. Only publications from the period 2006 to 2021 were considered. The data were systematized in a spreadsheet and later the content analysis was performed. Brazilian scientific production has shown to be limited in terms of transformations and socio-environmental impacts on lakes. The themes “Socio-environmental Impacts” and “Socio-environmental Transformations” are incipient in the literature when related to quality of life.
