Author Fees Policy

Bioscience Journal operates under an open access model, ensuring that all published content is available free of charge to readers worldwide. To cover the operational and publication costs associated with this model and to maintain the journal's sustainability, a publication fee is applied to articles that are accepted for publication.

Bioscience Journal does NOT charge fees for the submission or evaluation of manuscripts. Editorial and peer review are conducted based solely on the scientific merit and relevance of the work, without any influence from payment status or eligibility for fee waivers.

Article Processing Charge (APC)

The APC fee is applied only after final acceptance for publication:

  • National authors (residents in Brazil): R$ 80.00 (eighty reais) per formatted page.
  • Foreign authors (residents outside Brazil): USD 50 (fifty US dollars) per formatted page.

Calculation is based on the final number of pages in the formatted version, ready for publication.

Fee Coverage

The publication fee contributes to covering the following essential services and initiatives for the journal's operation and quality:

  • Costs associated with the formatting, editing, and final proofreading of accepted articles, ensuring publication quality and consistency.
  • Expenses related to the assignment and maintenance of Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for each published article, ensuring permanent identification and traceability.
  • Investments in similarity/plagiarism detection tools and the constant updating of editorial standards and processes, aiming to safeguard scientific integrity.
  • Efforts to enhance the journal's visibility and reach, including scientific dissemination activities and the process for maintaining and obtaining indexing in relevant databases.

Payment Process

Final amounts to be paid and payment process details are sent to the corresponding authors after the preparation and approval of the article's final proof.

Waiver Policy

Bioscience Journal does not currently have a defined policy regarding fee waivers.

Commitment to Editorial Independence

Bioscience Journal is committed to open science, editorial ethics, and the dissemination of high-quality research. The decision regarding the acceptance of a manuscript for publication is based solely on its originality, scientific validity, relevance, and clarity, as described by its Evaluation Process.
