Abstract

These reflections concern my ongoing investigation on how Brazilian music has been appropriated by contemporary Portuguese interpreters. My premise is that, through music, it is possible to exchange experiences, reworking and adapting these musical expressions to these countries’ history, redefining identities and establishing networks that put different forms of subjectivity in dialogue. This research examines the Portuguese music production of the last decade, which engaged in a dialogue with Brazilian music and several of its artists, including their own expression into that experience, building or reinforcing bridges between Brazil and Portugal.
