Abstract

Guerra conjugal, by Joaquim Pedro de Andrade, stands out as a cultural product that allows the debate about the national movie production of its time, under the hegemony of the genre known as pornochanchada (second rate porn), and the deep changes in Brazilian society stemming from the “economic miracle”, through an authoritarian modernization having “sexual revolution” as one of its main consequences in the field of social relations, deeply marked not only by the expansion of consumer society but also by political repression and violence employed by the authoritarian State.
