Abstract

Apocalypsis cum figuris (1969) was the last production of the Polish group Laboratory Theatre, directed by Jerzy Grotowski. This play has a number of particularities associated with both the specific historical / cultural moment when it was created and the development of the group’s research. This production breaks with a number of theatrical conventions of its time, process that culminated in the paratheater, artistic movement that proposed even more extreme ruptures and discontinuing productions. This article explores Apocalypsis specificities, highlighting as much as possible the way it introduced important pragmatic changes that would interweave with the 70’s paratheatrical investigation.
