This article analyzes the book A Dama e o Unicórnio by the Portuguese writer Maria Teresa Horta, whose poems dialogue with the medieval tapestries of the 15th century, from the National Museum of the Middle Ages in Paris. This analysis focuses on the presence and possible meanings of the unicorn myth in the Western imagination, as well as the way in which the poems tackle the mysterious relationship between the fabulous animal and the lady.
