The study aimed to verify the existence of asymmetry in the transmission of ethanol prices in the state of Rio Grande do Sul for the period 2005-2019. Using monthly averages, the results were obtained through an Error Correction Model (ECM). The evidence indicated the existence of symmetry in the transmission of wholesale ethanol prices to retail in the short and long term, also to found to the transmission of ethanol prices from the producer to retail. The results of the transmission of ethanol prices from the producer to the distributor demonstrated the presence of asymmetry, but, only, in the short term.
