Abstract

In Brazil, the growth of agricultural production in Matopiba - Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí, and Bahia in the last two decades brings the debate about Rural Territorial Development. During the years 1999 until 2017, through the analysis of agricultural production, gross domestic product, an indicator, the paper presents the hypothesis of the process economic growth overflowed to the socioeconomic development. For this, two techniques of data analysis, spatial analysis, and a panel data analysis (GMM) were used to prove a hypothesis. The results obtained showed the growth of economic growth for the social fabric, with the increase of income inequality.
