MIGRATION AND SELECTION: Evidence for the Center-West Brazil.
Abstract
This paper sets the goal of whether the center-west region immigrants form a positively selected group, that is, on average abler, motivated, pro-active, of enterpreneurial personality. In order to obtain such information, we performed dada analisys by cross-section. The dada was extracted form the PNAD/2006 (National Survey by Household Samplong) done by the IBGE (The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics). Starting gorm state-oriented estimates, we inferred that Goiás and Mato Grosso do Sul are states populated by positively selected immigrants. However, an off-beat result was obtained in the Mato Grosso survey, so we concluded we are dealing with a stylized fact regarding thi state.Downloads
