ECONOMIC IMPACT OF THE AGRARIAN REFORM SETTLEMENTS IN BRASI: analysis of their regional dimension
Abstract
ABSTRACT: This paper analyzes the economic effects, at the local and regional levels, of the establishment of agrarian reform settlements (assentamentos) in six regions of Brazil: South of Bahia, Southeast of Pará, the area surrounding the Federal District, the Sugarcane Region of the Northeast, Western Santa Catarina and Ceará's Arid Zone. The research emphasized the appraisal of the living standards of the families in the settlements, their productive and commercial activities, access to credit, land distribution patterns, and the creation of job opportunities.Downloads
