The Current Crisis of Energy in Brazil and the Perpectives for the Economic Development: an alternative approach
Abstract
Abstract: The demand policy for a reduction in energy consumption in Brazil - although justified as socially adequate once society would have to reduce consumption in the same proportion based on historical consumption -, really did not take into consideration any equity issues inthe process of reduction of the consumption levels. The adequate alternative should have been based on an increasing financial stimulus directed to those who did reduce their consumption levels. The present article shows that the adoption of this strategy would have led to easier administrative folowup, and would not create either a judiciary or a political conflict.Downloads
