Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The journal publishes original scientific works in areas such as Geography, Geology, Hydrology, Anthropology, Sociology, History, Paleontology among other related fields.
  • BGJ manuscript files shoulb be send in word format (2MB limit).
  • The BGJ manuscript text follow standard according "About the Journal".

Author Guidelines

Only original, previously unpublished articles submitted preferably by PhDs, Masters, Graduate Students and Graduates will be accepted for publication in BGJ. However, republications of works of recognized scientific value will be allowed.

The text should be written with Georgia font, 11 points size, single-spaced, on A4-sized paper. Margins should be at least 3 cm on each side. The manuscript must not be paginated.

Main sections in the text should be headed in bold and justified to the left margin. Second-level sections should be headed in italics, and third-level sections will use normal text, all left-justified. Do not number the sections.

Scientific Notes range from three to five pages; Articles from six to 30 pages. Articles exceeding 30 pages will depend on final editorial decision prior consultation.

All manuscripts should start by the Title, the name(s) of author(s), academic degree (Undergraduate, Master, Doctor/PhD) and complete address including email of each author.

The papers may be written in English, Portuguese, French or in Spanish.

In all case, one abstract in 1) English, 2) Portuguese, 3)French or Spanish must be included along with the correspondent titles.

Abstracts should not exceed 150 words.

Three to five key words should be provided following each abstract.

Tables and figures shall be inserted in the text preceded. Inside the main text the spaces where the figures and the tables should be inserted shall be also. The figure and table captions should be written in original language of the manuscript. Figures shall be in good quality. Tables must be auto-explainatives and not too very long. The density of information on the tables should take into account possible reductions.

Footnotes shall be placed at the bottom of the page where they will be indicated.

Bibliographic citations within the text should be made as follows:

One author: Naidu (2003); two authors: Carr; Frei (1999); three authors: Postma; Roberts; Hollenger (2001); Four and more authors: Ciancaglini et al, (2001).

Bibliographic References shall be alphabetically ordered by the surname of the first author according NBR 6023/2002. Examples:
