O velho e o novo: tensão entre experimentação artística no cinema de Eisenstein e as demandas ideológicas soviéticas

O texto aborda questões acerca da técnica de montagem no cinema de Sergei Eisenstein, suas relações com o pensamento artístico das vanguardas do início do século XX e com o debate político-ideológico soviético. Nesse contexto, o artigo analisa alguns aspectos do processo de criação e recepção do filme A linha geral/O velho e o novo, de 1929, que trata das condições de trabalho numa fazenda comunitária, na União Soviética, em sua luta para a modernização dos meios de produção. A construção da sintaxe dramatúrgica do filme revela a tensão entre a experimentação estética de Eisenstein, com a montagem fragmentária, no auge do "cinema intelectual", e a abordagem de conteúdos ideológicos, em composição baseada no princípio unificador e na totalidade dos significados da obra, sob a égide da censura do regime stalinista. palavras-chave: Eisenstein; A linha geral/O velho e o novo; vanguardas artísticas russas. ABSTRACT: The text approaches questions aboutmontage technique in Sergei Eisenstein's cinema in his relations with the artistic means of the avant-gardes at the onset of the twentieth century and the Soviet political and ideological debate. In the context, the article studies the creation and the reception process of the film The general line/The old and the new, of 1929, that deals with labor conditions in a communal farm, in the Soviet Union, in its struggle for modernizing production means. The film's dramaturgic syntax building reveals the tension between Eisenstein's aesthetic experimentation, at the height of the "intellectual movie", with its fragmentary montage, and the ideological content approach, in the composition based on the unifying principle and on the whole meaning of the work, under the auspices of the Stalinist censorship.
