Resumo

Se já é consenso afirmar que Machado de Assis é um autor empenhado em manter um diálogo com seu leitor, o presente trabalho pretende discutir a instância autoral como lugar instável, enquanto instância discursiva um tanto ambígua, calculadamente situada a meio caminho entre o escritor Machado de Assis e seus narradores. Pretende-se pensar teoricamente o conceito de autoria como um estatuto contraditório respaldado ora na força sacralizadora da assinatura legitimante (o que levaria à valorização da intencionalidade), ora como espaço apócrifo em que a impessoalização das vozes narrativas é a estratégia produtora de ficcionalidade. ABSTRACT: Considering that there seems to be a kind of consensus around the idea that Machado de Assis is an author keen on stablishing a dialogue with his readers, the present work aims at discussing the authorial stance as an unstable locus or as a somewhat ambiguous discursive stance, calculatedly situated halfway between the writer Machado de Assis and his narrators. My intention is to think theoretically about the concept of authorship, taking it as being imbued of a contradictory statute, at times supported by the force of the legitimizing signature (what would take us to confer value to intentionality), at times being an apocriphal space in which the dispersonalization of the narrative voices is the strategy that produces ficcionality.
