Identidades sobrepostas: o caso do filme Soy Cuba

Resumo

Analisamos o projeto, a produção e a recepção de Soy Cuba (Mikhail Kalatosov, 1964), co-produção cubanosoviética. Por meio da análise de artigos, cartas e depoimentos, refletimos sobre as tensões que permearam a realização do filme, entre 1961 e 1964, face aos acontecimentos políticos e às mudanças nas relações entre Cuba e URSS, no contexto da crise dos mísseis. Abordamos a participação de cada um dos países nessa co-produção, bem como elementos da narrativa e da estética que contribuíram para a atribuição de determinados sentidos políticos à obra e sua condenação, em Cuba e na URSS, pela crítica e pelos institutos que a produziram. Dialogamos ainda com a análise histórica e a memória construída sobre o filme, presentes no documentário Soy Cuba, o mamute siberiano (Vicente Ferraz, 2004).PALABRAS-CLAVE: Palavras-chave: cinema cubano; Revolução Cubana; crise dos mísseis ABSTRACT: We analyze the design, production and reception of the film Soy Cuba (I am Cuba; Mikhail Kalatosov, 1964) a Cuban-Soviet co-production. Through the analysis of articles, letters and testimonials we reflect on the tensions that surrounded the making of the film, between 1961 and 1964, due to political events and changes in the relations between Cuba and the USSR in the context of the Cuban Missile Crisis. We discuss the participation of each of these countries in this co-production as well as narrative and aesthetic elements that contributed to the attachment of specific political interpretations of the work and its condemnation, in Cuba and in the USSR, by critics and by the institutions that produced it. We also discuss the historical analysis and memory built around the film, present in the documentary Soy Cuba, The Siberian Mammoth (Vicente Ferraz, 2004).
