This paper aims to analyze the short story “Marília acorda”, which composes the book Amora (2015), written by Natalia Borges Polesso. In order to analyze the text, it is used the studies of the imaginary and its social aspects, based on authors such as Gilbert Durand (1988), Chevalier and Gheerbrant (1995). Starting from the homoaffective union between the two main characters on the narrative, it also intends to search the references to Aristophanes myth of love and the symbolic images, of which composes the story of those women. Futhermore, it highlights the social provocations caused by the approach of the female homossexuality and the intolerance and prejudice, which pursues this group for centuries, corroborating to the perception of the approximation between the social criticism and the theory of the Imaginary.
