Abstract

The present article aims at exploring the theme of voracity in Duas iguais (1998), a novel by south-rio-grandense writer Cíntia Moscovich (1958 -). Taking voracity as a symbol of Moscovich's novel, we investigated the different ways in which it appears in the narrative (mentions of food, food preparations, the meals, the aromas, etc.). We tried to connect these images to the different ways the main character Clara deals with other characters. Three different moments were identified in which the food imagery has different meanings: in the family home, in the home of Clara and her husband Vítor, and in the descriptions of Ana, character with whom the protagonist has a secret affair.  Finally, we point out that the highlight of this Moscovich´s novel is the presence of an intricate connection between the poetic language and an ethical discussion.
