This paper aims at identifying the process of individuation of Emil Sinclair, the protagonist of Demian, by Hermann Hesse. Since this process is a concept of Carl Gustav Jung's analytical psychology, we first focus on clarifying some concepts of this theoretical thought. Later on, we analyze the gradual evolution of Emil until the meeting between him and the character Beatrice. Further, we study the possibilities of this last character being the archetype of anima and how it can represent the feminine aspect of the protagonist.
