Considering the mythical hero´s quest model proposed by Joseph Campbell, the processs of individuation defended by Jung and also the heroine’s journey by Ellen Douglas, Carol Christ and Annis Pratt, this paper intends to show the differences between the literary hero and heroine´s journey in novels produced by women, emphasizing “the social quest” experienced by the young lady and the “quest for rebirth” by the mature woman.
