The purpose of this article is to discusshow the Brazilian national identity project, guided by miscegenation/whitening, was preponderant for what is called the “coloniality of emotions”, which historically affected the subjectivities of black people in Brazil, especially in relation to the feeling of love. In addition, it seeks to understand how a series of statements and political strategies produced within the Brazilian black movement contributed to the formulation of a “black consciousness of the black”, which tensions with this coloniality.
