This research aimed to investigate, through a decolonial reading, the meanings of artistic/artisanal practices of rural women, in order to understand whether they can be constituted as modes of resistance to different forms of oppression. The participants were invited from a craft page in a social network and we used semi-structured interviews and a field diary as a data collection instrument. The results demonstrated the importance of handicrafts as a strategy of resistance for these women and the gender issues and linked to capitalism that cross this practice in the rural context. The participants brought themes that question the way we produce knowledge, making us think about our place as researchers.
