Resumen

The washing and sterilization rooms are considered areas of technical support and health-care facilities, therefore, they must be constructed, expanded or improved to meet its basic function as to provide clean material, decontaminated, ensuring inactivation of pathogenic microorganisms. It was held at the Instituto Oswaldo Cruz a scheme designed to adapt washing and sterilization rooms, to structure them according to the technical guidance of the Ministry of Health, focusing on primary and secondary containment which aim to reduce exposure the risk agents. Implementing the project covered three stages: physical facilities; purchase of equipments and materials required for the project, and training of professionals to became familiar with the equipment, as well as to the basic concepts of sterilization and working conduct recommended by biosafety rules.
