Facundo: civilização e barbárie - Uma leitura da sociedade Argentina no século XIX

Resumen

A obra Facundo: civilização e barbárie, do argentino Domingo F. Sarmiento, compartilha − com outras obras do século XIX que também se propuseram compreender as lutas políticas,econômicas e sociais dos nascentes países latino-americanos − um conjunto de ideias, estereótipos, imagens e símbolos que se fixaram numa espécie de episteme presente na construção das histórias e literaturas nacionais. Nosso objetivo, neste trabalho, é propor uma leitura do Facundo a partir da perspectiva de que esta obra se erigiu em mito político integrante das disputas para a construção do Estado-nação na Argentina. A antinomia civilização e barbárie recobre as concepções de um projeto homogeneizador de Estado, nação e sociedade e, portanto, a definição dos sujeitos que constituiriam o corpo político da nação e suas representações culturais.

ABSTRACT: The work Facundo: civilization and barbarity, by argentinian Domingo F. Sarmiento, partakes, with other works from the XIX century which also proposed themselves to comprehend the political, economical and social conflicts from the rising Latin-American countries, a set of ideas, stereotypes, images and symbols that fixed themselves in a species of episteme present in the construction of the national histories and literatures. Our aim, in this paper, is to recommend a Facundo reading from the perspective in which this work raised into a political myth constituent from the disputes to the construction of a Nation-state in Argentina. The antinomy civilization and barbarity recovers the conceptions of a homogenized project of State, nation and society and, therefore, the definition from the subjects who constituted the political corpus from the nation and their cultural representations.
