Abstract

Extraction with hot water is the most widely used procedure on inicial step for the determinationof of boron available in soils. However it is a procedure difficult to standardize, time consuming and tedious for routine usage. An alternative extraction procedure was developed, consisting in the extraction of boron with a 5 mmol L-1 solution of aluminum sulfate. Boron was determined by azomethine-H method is perhaps the most commonly used spectrophotometric method of boron determination. Good correlations were found between extraction of boron by boiling water under reflux and the extraction with solution of aluminum sulfate for a brazilian soil. Keywords: boron; extraction; azomethine-H.
