Abstract

In this work it was explored how the exchange interaction affects the electronic structure of diluted magnetic semiconductor quantum dot and hence the magneto-absorption spectrum and the g-factor. The model used to perform the calculation was based on 8×8 k. p Kane Hamiltonian, allowing the inclusion of the conduction-valence-band coupling, and allows to study the set of symmetries associated with these electronic states and effects magnetic field. The results presented here are for a semi-spherical quantum dot of Cd1-xMnxTe. Keywords: diluted magnetic semiconductor quantum dot, exchange interaction, k.p Hamiltonian, magneto-absorption, g-factor.
