Abstract

Some common forms of defects caused by discontinuities in welds copper steel is the lack of fusion and lack of penetration. These defects directly affect the mechanisms of heat transfer of the object, besides presenting imminent failure to the system. Are difficult to detect visibly therefore need the help of special equipment or procedures for verification. Field experiments were conducted using thermography to verify its feasibility for detection of defect in welding copper steel, since it is a non-contact technique, high inspection speed, which allows use in small and large structures. Keywords: welding copper steel; active thermography; response surface.
