VULNERABILITY AND CONTAMINATION INVENTORY OF THE GROUNDWATER IN THE ALTO AGUAPEÃ AND ALTO PEIXE, SP
Abstract
The assessment of the natural vulnerability and the contamination risks of aquifers outcropping units on the sub units of water resources management called Alto Aguapei and Alto Peixe in São Paulo State. The results evidenced that extreme classification vulnerabilities are restricted just for the river plains of two rivers, occupying around 2% of the studied area, while the High and High Low vulnerability part occupy 65%. Regardless of location, the correlation of vulnerabilities with potential sources of contamination demonstrated that the gas stations and places of solid waste disposal have a high risk of contamination. The industrial activities have a high risk of contamination to the industrial districts of Garça and Marília and moderate for units in the food sector, located outside these districts. The results also have indicated higher degree of diffuse risk to contamination groundwater in the cities with lower rates of wastewater collection.
