Abstract

To evaluate a building from its sustainability point of view guidelines set by various certification programs may be attained. Those guidelines should be considered to perform a proper planning in the stage of project design, which aims at adapting the design to meet a variety of existing programs. The programs provide many types of assessment, such as: selection of the site, appropriate use of water and energy efficiency. In this work, the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification program was applied to evaluate the Glória University Campus in the city of Uberlândia, MG. The evaluation addressed only the category entitled: Sustainable Sites. The Glória Campus will be a new campus belonging to the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU) and in its Master Plan there are features of sustainability in buildings and around the campus, justifying its analysis. The category evaluated indicates the attendance of several guidelines, but some others deserve the attention of planners. Keywords: LEED certification, sustainability, green building constructions, Glória Campus.
