Abstract
This work deals with aspects related to the behavior of AC contactors, whenever they are submitted to voltage sags and short interruptions. This work presents results for three contactors commercially available in Brazil. Nevertheless, the findings should be applicable to other contactors produced with the same technology. On the contrary to ordinary tests related to voltage sags, which in general, takes in consideration only the magnitude of the voltage and the duration (in time) of the event, the experiments presented in this work, in addition to these features, includes the effects of the point of the voltage waveform in which the voltage sag occurs. From the experiments, voltage-tolerance curves are presented.
Keywords: Voltage sags, Power Quality, AC Contactors.
