Abstract

This article aims to analyze the vulnerabilities of indigenous peoples to the new coronavirus pandemic in the border region between Brazil and Paraguay. This is an unprecedented work, resulting from academic research, with a view to evaluating and subsidizing public health policies for the indigenous population. As for the methodology, this research is characterized by being bibliographical and documental, with the use of the hypothetical-deductive method for the analysis of the collected data. Therefore, a qualitative approach and descriptive-exploratory research were used in order to achieve the expected results. The research has as its main object of study the transboundary indigenous peoples, who occupy territories in Brazil, in Mato Grosso do Sul, and in Paraguay, in the Pysyry Colony, in the Department of Amambay. The conclusions of this study point out that the inaction and refusal of the Brazilian and Paraguayan States to implement public policies aimed at the cultural idiosyncrasies of cross-border indigenous peoples have led to the genocide of this population, in a systematic violation of their human rights, especially health and of life.
