This is a book review of the work “The Network Society”, originally published in 1991 - “De Netwerkmaatschappij” - in Dutch, in which Jan van Dijk coined the expression “network society”, which was to be redesigned in 1996 by Spanish sociologist Manuel Castells, in his work “The Rise of the Network Society”, the first part of a trilogy called “The Information Age”.
