A Teologia da Libertação e a opção preferencial pelos pobres na América Latina

Resumo

: O presente artigo propõe-se resgatar a formação ideológica e histórica da Teologia da Libertação na América Latina, bem como compreender seus móveis doutrinais e as condições materiais que presidiram sua constituição. O breve ensaio dedica sua primeira parte a perscrutar a elaboração doutrinal da Teologia da Libertação, por meio da análise, qual expressão de uma autorrepresentação, das ideias dos principais expoentes dessa corrente de pensamento. A seguir, recuperam-se os caminhos da formação da Igreja da Libertação, desde o advento das reformulações institucionais e doutrinais do Concílio Vaticano II (1962-1965) até a Segunda Conferência Episcopal Latino-americana em Medellín em 1968, e sua ratificação com a Conferência de Puebla em 1979. A terceira parte dedica-se a contemplar, a título de exemplo histórico, a atuação da Igreja da Libertação no contexto brasileiro.

ABSTRACT: The present paper proposes to rescue the ideological and historical making of the Liberation Theology in Latin America, as well as to understand its doctrinal motivations and the concrete conditions which determined its constitution. This brief essay dedicates its first part to investigate the doctrinal elaboration of the Liberation Theology, through the analysis, as expression of a self-representation, of the ideas belonging to its main intellectuals. Furthermore, the article rescues the paths of the genesis of the Liberation Church, from the institutional and doctrinal reformulations of the Second Council of the Vatican (1962-1965), to the Second Conference of the Bishops of Latin America in Medellín, in 1968, and its ratification by the Conference of Puebla, in 1979. The third part is dedicated to contemplate the actuation of the Liberation Church in the Brazilian context, as a historical example.
