MORGAN E ENGELS: CONSIDERAÇÕES SOBRE A COINCIDÊNCIA ENTRE AS NOÇÕES DE EVOLUÇÃO E DE PROGRESSO

Resumo

A proposta deste artigo é demonstrar como as noções de evolução e de progresso estão entrelaçadas e influenciaram os textos de Lewis Morgan - A Sociedade Primitiva - e F. Engels - A Origem da Família, da Propriedade Privada e do Estado -, discussão esta alinhavada pelo texto de Jean Condorcet - O Esboço de um quadro histórico dos progressos do espírito humano. A escolha desse trabalho de Condorcet, para balizar o debate, se justifica por sua convicção de que são os progressos do espírito humano que fornecem o fio condutor da história, crença essa, que acreditamos ser compartilhada nos textos por Morgan e Engels.

ABSTRACT

This article intends to demonstrate how the notions of evolution and progress are interlaced and how they influenced writings of Lewis Morgan -The Primitive Society- and of F. Engels - The Origin of The Family, The Private Propriety and The State. To mediate the discussion The Sketch of the historical square of the progress of the human spirit, by Jean Condorcet, has been chosen, since he maintains that the progress of the human spirit provides history's leitmotiv. According to our standpoint, this is a belief present in Morgan and Engels's writings.
