<em>Uberlândia Ilustrada</em>, 1935 a 1961: a revista e seu editor

Resumo

Nos anos de 1935 a 1961, foram publicados 28 números da revista Uberlândia Ilustrada. Nas páginas desse periódico ficaram estampados aspectos da história da formação do município de Uberlândia, biografias de personalidades da sociedade local, crônicas acerca da vida de tipos populares, estatísticas escolares, poesias, enredos de peças teatrais, publicidade de estabelecimentos comerciais e uma profusão de imagens fotográficas. No texto a seguir analisamos os conteúdos das seções da revista, destacamos as estratégias utilizadas por seu editor, o memorialista Jerônimo Arantes, para obter patrocinadores; discutimos as imagens estampadas em todas as capas e comentamos as representações produzidas acerca da revista e de seu editor pela imprensa e pelos leitores.

ABSTRACT

During the years from 1935 to 1961, 28 issues of the Uberlândia Ilustrada magazine were published. On the pages of this periodic publication were registered aspects of the formation of the municipal district of Uberlândia, biographies of personalities from the local society, chronicles about the life of the ordinary people, scholastic statistics, poetry, plots of theatrical plays, ads for commercial establishments and a profusion of photographical images. In the following text we analize the contents of the magazine's sections, emphasize the strategies used by its publisher, the memorialist Jerônimo Arantes, in order to obtain sponsorship, discuss the images impressed in all its covers and comment the representations produced about the magazine and its publisher by the media in general and by its readers.
