This purpose is aimed to expose the current situation of women, in your home, in relation to numerous and constant aggressions caused by an intimate male, analyzing, in particularly, the cases that occurred in the Minas Gerais state, in Brazil. With the advent of the pandemic caused by COVID-19, there was a significant increase in cases of domestic violence against women, which also became the subject of the present study. It is an historical, social and rooted problem in Brazilian culture, in which, in many moments, the woman, victim of such fact, suffers silently, without making the appropriate denunciation, for fear, shame, submission, dependence, among other factors, generating considerable underreporting in the cases. The Law no. 11,340, of August 7, 2006, popularly known as the Maria da Penha Law, was consecrated as a true milestone for the women protection, presenting several mechanisms in an attempt to curb such an act. There are several forms of violence faced by women, which results in physical, psychological and moral consequences. The causes of such submission are also diverse, often encompassing fear, financial dependence and the hope of promised change. Such a study, carried out through bibliographic research, is justified due to the importance of knowing the real numbers of violence against women, and understanding the reasons, causes and consequences of this unacceptable act.
