Historically, high school has presented significant rates of dropout and repetition. This interview focuses on aspects related to the dynamics of high school functioning in the Brazilian reality. Analytical balances of the contours and configurations regarding the successes, intermittences, and limitations of the educational policies focused on the offer of this educational stage are made, as well as analyzes of the necessary connections between the school universe and the youth universe, the impacts of the Constitutional Amendment 95 on the financing of Basic Education and the reform of secondary education.
