Rio Grande do Sul has been losing prominence on the national scene due to the state’s serious fiscal crisis and the loss of competitiveness in the economic sector. The objective of this paper is to estimate an input-output matrix using the RAS method, seeking to understand the sectoral structure of the state's economy and the participation of the sectors of public administration and transport in 2011. The results showed that the state's economic profile is mainly linked to agriculture and the manufacturing industry. It is worth mentioning the importance of public education and road transport in generating employment and income.
