The article proposes to explain the main developments of World War I reparation (1914-1918) imposed on Germany. Human and material losses due to World War I are initially mentioned. By the end of the war a new territorial reorganization of Europe would emerge, with the disintegration of empires and the emergence of new countries. Finally, war reparations instituted in the Versailles Peace Treaty (1919) are discussed, so that economic difficulties faced by Germany and France, in particular, appear as the central point of the discussion of this article.
