Abstract

This article aims to understand how behaviors reinvent themselves over time and reflect cultural values, patterns and important characteristics that, with the help of new analysis tools, gain another look and dimension. It shows how people's relationships with body and images are transferred into a context of connection and constant mobility – working the selfie subgenre photographic. Studies by authors such as Sherry Turkle and Lucia Santaella and Lev Manovich are reviewed, and a work of data analysis of the social network Instagram of the latter author, entitled SelfieCity, is described. Finally, an experimental proposal is presented to observe self-data in the city of Porto Alegre/RS and it is assumed that the representations in the virtual spaces are crossed by ruptures and experiments depending on the historical and cultural trajectory of the users, with their movements and desires.
