Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) concept was developed by the American educational psychologist Lee Shulman in the mid-1980s. Pedagogical Content Knowledge is the specific professional knowledge in pedagogy. In this article, we present the possibility of PCK as an instrument to understand and enhance the professional development of novice teachers. We believe that the study of PCK and the appropriation of its theory by novice pedagogues is a fruitful field to help teachers reflect on their practices and in their process of acquiring knowledge. As a result, we will have more qualified professionals in the classroom for the challenge of teaching. We also consider the importance of the PCK for teachers and the appropriation of knowledge about the content in Geography, as a relevant instrument that allows them to develop more reflective practices about their teaching actions.
