Abstract

Photography is an auxiliary tool that helps and gives support to the obtention of results in research. Therefore, in most cases, it is a secondary element in the whole process of analysis. However, this article brings an inversion of values in the use of photography, bringing it as the main object in the analysis of the urban landscape of Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, during the 1950s and 1960s. The text, after presenting theoretical reflections about urban landscape and photography, reflects on the photographic material collected and the implications for the city representation in its search for modernity.
