Section Policies
The Bioscience Journal considers the following types of work for publication, all subject to a rigorous peer-review process:
- Research Articles: Including clinical studies, laboratory studies, cohort studies, case-control studies, ecological studies, and cross-sectional studies. They must present original and unpublished results that contribute significantly to the advancement of knowledge in the areas of Agricultural Sciences, Biological Sciences, or Health Sciences.
- Systematic Reviews: Systematic reviews with or without meta-analysis are accepted. They must present a registration number in the PROSPERO - International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews database. Submissions without a registration number (for health reviews) will be rejected without peer review.
- Scoping Reviews: Review works presenting mappings of available literature on a topic, identifying knowledge gaps, types of evidence, and areas for future research—without necessarily critically evaluating the quality of included studies or performing a meta-analysis. They must present a registration number in the OSF - Open Science Framework database.
The following types of work are NOT accepted: narrative reviews, critical reviews or integrative reviews, case reports, case series, short communications, letters to the editor, and opinion articles.
Additionally, for health research submissions, authors must observe and follow the journal's Reporting Guidelines Policy regarding the use of guides and checklists for the presentation of results.
