Data Availability

The Bioscience Journal adheres to the ICMJE recommendation that works reporting clinical trial results must include a data availability statement.

The statement must clearly indicate:

  • If individual participant data, properly anonymized (including data dictionaries), will be shared ("undecided" is not an acceptable answer);
  • Which specific data will be shared;
  • If additional related documents will be available (e.g., study protocol, statistical analysis plan, etc.);
  • When data will be available and for how long;
  • Which access criteria will be adopted for data sharing (including with whom, for which analysis types, and by what mechanism they should be obtained or requested).
  • Repository Identifiers: If the data were deposited in a public repository (e.g., SciELO Data, Figshare, Zenodo), authors must provide the repository name and the accession number or DOI of the datasets. If the data involve a secondary analysis, authors must cite the original source and the persistent identifier of the data.

The data statement must be included in the title page, submitted at the time of submission, and will be published in its own section within the article.

Secondary Analysis Results

Authors reporting secondary analysis results from shared data must:

  • Declare that use complied with applicable terms of use (if pertinent).
  • Reference the data source using its unique identifier.
  • Explain in detail how their analysis differs from previous analyses.
