Abstract

The Fundamental Concepts of Mathematics can be considered one of the main works of the Portuguese mathematician Bento de Jesus Caraça. In it or author it combines the historical - logical movement of creating fundamental mathematical concepts such as number, functions. Limits, series and heredity. In addition to the mathematical content, attention is called or the method of exposure used in the book. Here, we intend to export a sample of the book, a general example of this method and the intentions behind what we think it is possible to know a little about the author. A book from the middle of the last century and that has not lost its activity. Good reading!
